Quarantine Survival Guide: Middle

Time to check in with yourself: what’s working? What’s not?

When’s the last time you took a shower? Take some time to enjoy the process of taking care of yourself, whether that’s brushing your teeth, washing your hair, or any other acts of grooming that may have fallen by the wayside. How are you feeling? Still no symptoms? Yay! If you are experiencing any signs of illness, give Student Health a call.

Stressed? Lonely? Going stir-crazy? What do you need to make it through the rest of your time without losing your mind? Go ahead--try a meditation, sing your favorite songs at the top of your lungs, watch your favorite childhood TV shows or movies. What can you do when you’re not worried about anyone watching you? Let yourself be silly, or sad, or whatever else you need in this moment. Reach out for support as necessary.

Look around: how’s it going? Empty water bottles everywhere? Clothes all over the floor? Guess what? If you don’t mind it, that's just fine. No one is looking. If it’s bugging you and you know you’d be happier if your space was in order, take time to tidy and organize.

Still doing okay? E-mail your professors and check in to let them know how you are doing. If you’ve been slacking, can you start with some small assignments to get yourself back on track? If you’ve been stressing yourself out by being a perfectionist, can you take a break? Use the resources from the Student Success Center.

Okay, when’s the last time you talked to someone? Texting and snapchatting doesn’t count. Call a friend or a relative, or reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while. If there isn’t anyone, start thinking about how you might change that moving forward, or reach out to online groups or student orgs that share similar interests.
