“Room Cleanliness”
Each student is required to clean their room from top to bottom and remove all personal items before checking out. Be sure to vacuum, sweep, mop, wipe down windows and walls as charges will be assessed for uncleaned spaces! Any maintenance requests should be placed with your Resident Assistant before your check out.
“Room Damages”
During the resident's check out, the Resident Assistant will assess any damage in the room. The Resident Assistant will work to distringuish between old and new damage using the previously complete Room Condition Reports and identify the anticipated charge for new damage.
Upon closing the building, the Resident Assistant and the Area Director will reenter each student space to reassess damages. The Area Director reserves the right to adjust or add charges at this time based on the state of the space to better account for the work it will take to return the space to an acceptable condition.
Any damage that was not caused by all residents must be claimed by the responsible parties or else all residents will be found responsible and charged accordingly.
NOTE: Students who failed to complete their Room Condition Report at the start of the year forfeited the right to dispute charges!
“Personal Storage”
Residential Life does not offer summer storage for student belongings.
There are several local and national storage units in the University area, including our preferred vendor Summertime Storage who offers services from storage to packing and shipping of personal items!
“Trash”
Each Resident Assistant will have trash bags available for residents to use. Bring all trash bags to the designated dumpsters, located outside of the residence halls. Ask a Resident Assistant if you don't know where the closest dumpster is. The refuse rooms CANNOT accommodate all of the trash, so they will be closed down during finals week and closing. Trash left in non-designated areas will be subject to fines for the area in which it is found.
“Donation Program”
Loyola collects clothing, non-perishable foods, furniture, and other unwanted items that are clean and in good working order. These items are then donated to Goodwill for distribution to community locations.
Please do not throw away items if someone else could benefit from them!
“Microfridges”
MicroFridge return will take place on DATES TBD.
All MicroFridges must be returned clean, defrosted, and with all original parts (i.e., ice cube tray, microwave plate, etc.) to designated locations.
“Mail Forwarding”
Students who are returning to their permanent address for the summer do not need to request mail forwarding, we will simply begin forwarding to your permanent address after spring closing. Students who will reside someplace other than their permanent address for the summer must return a mail forwarding slip to their residence hall Mail Clerk.
These forms are available at Loyola's US Postal Service branch in the Danna Student Center.
“Interim Housing”
Interim housing is available to students who plan to stay on campus between the Spring semester and Summer school OR between Summer school and the Fall semester at an additional cost to the regular summer housing rates. Students provided interim housing will remain in their current room until their summer room is available, at which time they will be notified and will have 48 hours to complete their move.
