Anxiety Management Workshops

During this time, it's normal to feel more stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. The UCC is here to help.

Our Anxiety Management Workshops meet THURSDAYS from 12:30-1:30 pm CST via Zoom. These workshops are focused on concrete skill-building, are FREE, open to all students, and no sign up is necessary.

 

Thursday, Sept 9 from 12:30-1:30: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Claudia Norton, LCSW

Can't stop thinking about how life has changed? Focused on losses and struggling to make it work? Learn how to focus on the present rather than getting lost in anxiety about the future or regrets about the past. Find ways to attend to your emotions without magnifying problems, or getting lost in criticism and self-judgment.

Thursday, Sept. 16 from 12:30-1:30: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Ash Bayer, PLPC

CBT is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health.  CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. 

Thursday, Sept. 23 from 12:30-1:30: Test Anxiety with Paolo Roy, LMSW

Learn concrete skills to use in order to stay calm and effective when preparing for and completing tests.

Thursday, Sept. 30 from 12:30-1:30:  Self Care and Stress Management with Dymphna Davis, Ph.D. , LPC-S, NCC

Ever felt hangry?  Too tired to focus?  Learn about the behavioral and biological factors that contribute to stress, what you can do to improve self-care and form a plan to implement change.

Thursday, Oct. 7 from 12:30-1:30:  Progressive Muscle Relaxation with Laura Dickinson, LMSW

Take time out of your busy day to truly relax for an hour! A trained counselor will lead you through calming guided imagery and progressive muscle relaxation. You will also learn how to do this on your own. At the end of this session, you should feel relaxed, focused and ready to face your challenges.
